Darrell Hill is a resident of Kamuela , Hawaii, but lived most of his life in California, receiving formal training at the College of the Sequoias and his B.F.A. degree from Brook's Institute of Fine Arts in Santa Barbara.

Exposed to art at an early age Hill was very active in art projects throughout school. His travels to Israel, Mexico, Hawaii & Europe have enriched the development of his own unique use of color and design.

- Darrell Hill creates landscapes & design & figurative works. In painting these subjects, Hill has concentrated on observation, especially as it concerns color, light, pattern, form & composition. His paintings have been described as warm and inviting. They invoke a place of restful escape and share a sense of timelessness with the works of other eras.

SHORT STATEMENT

The subjects of Hill’s paintings are as diverse as the Hawaiian paradise in which he lives – beaches, florals, tropics, landscapes and beautiful native people.
As always, the key to Hill’s paintings is the use of light and the emotional comfort and feel of the painting. Hill paintings, which are featured in collections worldwide, capture the moment of light that often reflects a story. They are described as colorful and comforting, warm and inviting and sometimes, courageous.
